StorySlice Privacy Policy
Effective date: 6 October 2026
StorySlice is an Android app by Lucas Teles de Lima, trading as Lima Works (published on Google Play as Lima Works Apps), United Kingdom ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app uses, why, and the choices you have.

The short version
- Your videos never leave your phone. StorySlice processes them on your device. We never upload, see or store them.
- We don't ask you to create an account, and we don't collect your name, email address, contacts or location from the app.
- The app sends crash reports, which you can turn off in Settings, and shows ads (unless you buy "Remove ads"). These use Google services, described below.
Your videos
When you choose or share a video, StorySlice copies it into the app's private storage on your phone, splits it there, and saves the parts to a "StorySlice" album in your phone's gallery. The temporary copy is deleted afterwards. The History screen reads that album directly from your phone. No video, part of a video or video name is sent anywhere by the app.
Sharing the parts (for example to Instagram) happens only when you tap Share, through Android's share menu. What the app you share to does with them is covered by that app's own privacy policy.
Information stored on your phone
The app keeps a few settings on your phone: the last split length you used, whether it has already asked for a permission, and your "Send crash reports" choice. Android may include the "Send crash reports" choice in your device backup to your Google account, so it carries over to a new phone.
Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
If the app crashes or a split fails, StorySlice sends a crash report to Firebase Crashlytics, a service from Google, so we can find and fix the problem. A report contains:
- technical details of the error (where in the app's code it happened);
- your phone's model, Android version and app version, and whether the app was in the foreground;
- a random installation identifier, so we can tell how many installs a problem affects;
- what the app was doing, for example the video's format, resolution, length and chunk length, and whether each part was copied or re-encoded. Never the video itself or its name.
Google keeps crash reports for 90 days. You can turn crash reports off at any time in Settings > Send crash reports. We use them on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the app working.
Ads (Google AdMob)
The free version shows an ad when a split finishes. Ads are provided by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, and to prevent fraud, Google may collect your device's advertising ID, your IP address (which can indicate your approximate location), device information, and how you interact with ads.
If you are in the UK, the EEA or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown, using Google's consent form. You can change your choice later from the app. Without consent, Google may still show non-personalised ads. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings.
How Google uses this information is explained at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
If you buy "Remove ads", the app stops loading ads.
Purchases (Google Play)
"Remove ads" is bought through Google Play. Google handles the payment. We never see your card or payment details; the app only receives confirmation from Google Play that the purchase was made, so it can remove the ads, including after you reinstall the app.
Permissions
- Notifications (Android 13 and later): to show split progress and when a split is finished. Optional.
- Storage (Android 9 and older only): to save the parts to your gallery and list them in History. Newer Android versions need no permission for this.
Sharing and transfers
We don't sell your information. The information described above goes only to Google, which processes it as our service provider (Crashlytics) or as an independent controller (AdMob, Google Play). Google may process it outside the UK, under the safeguards Google provides for international transfers.
Children
StorySlice is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete your information, and object to or restrict how it's used. Since crash reports are tied only to a random installation identifier, we may need details from you (for example the approximate time of a crash) to find them. Contact us at limaworksapps@gmail.com. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the effective date. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
